Growing up, Cael and Zach spent countless hours with family on the Mississippi River. One lesson the river teaches is simple: it’s much easier to move downstream than fight against the current. That idea became the inspiration behind Downstream Finance. We help business owners eliminate unnecessary obstacles, streamline their operations, and create systems that allow them to move forward with confidence and focus on what they do best.

Founded in 2025 and based in Altoona, Iowa, Downstream Finance was built on a shared passion for helping people and solving problems. During his accounting studies at the University of Iowa, Cael developed a strong foundation in financial organization, bookkeeping, and business operations. Along with his entrepreneurial mindset, Zach studied business management at the University of Iowa, building a strong understanding of how organizations operate and grow. Together, they share a natural talent for finding practical solutions to everyday business challenges.

They recognized that many small business owners spend too much time managing bookkeeping and administrative tasks instead of growing their businesses. Both Cael and Zach earned their QuickBooks Certified Professional Advisors certificates, committed themselves to providing approachable, trustworthy bookkeeping tailored to small and growing businesses and Downstream Finance was born.

As AI began transforming the business landscape, Cael and Zach saw another opportunity to help business owners work more efficiently. In early 2026, they expanded their services to include Downstream AI, helping organizations understand, adopt, and implement AI solutions that save time, improve productivity, and simplify workflows. From team training to custom-built AI systems, their goal is to help businesses leverage technology in practical and meaningful ways.
